Each month, I recommend that your child listen to at least the introduction/biography of a famous classical composer! The website www.classicsforkids.com has so many neat features (games, worksheets, etc.) but the best part of the site is the audio program that teaches about the composer
with clips of their music embedded throughout! I will try to remind during piano lessons but if your child will be proactive and let me know they have listened to a program that week I would LOVE to give them an extra prize for their efforts in expanding their education! :)
August - Zoltan Kodaly - Not only was he a great composer, but he did a lot of research and work in music education!!! Did you ever sing "Do-Re-Mi" from the Sound of Music? Kodaly helped develop "solfeg" in the music education of children in Hungary!
