About Me

As a child, my parents instilled a love for music and the arts. Enrolling us in "Summer Fun with Strings" at 4 years old was our first exposure to music lessons! This was a summer Suzuki camp to learn the basics of violin. After the first few semesters of violin and viola I decided to switch to cello and continued with private lessons for 4 years. I was also a member of the Flint Youth String Orchestra at that time and enjoyed giving performances around the greater Flint area of Michigan.

At age 10 I BEGGED my parents to allow me to take piano lessons. I decided to quit the cello in order to pursue my love for piano and I'm so glad they listened! They even invested in a beautiful upright piano the first year of lessons. Without my supportive parents I would not have been able to follow my dreams of music! I'm so thankful for their sacrifices!!!

My piano teacher (Mrs. Baldwin!) was an inspiration to me throughout the 7 years of piano lessons in Michigan! She challenged me to grow and helped develop my technique and artistry in order to pursue music in college!

I was accepted to several music schools but I decided to follow another dream of living in Tennessee and enrolled at Lee University in Cleveland, TN.

I majored in Music Education with an emphasis in piano. I also played the clarinet in the Lee University Symphonic Band and piano in the Lee University Jazz Band. The 5 years of study in the Lee University School of Music prepared me for my dream career in teaching music! I loved learning and was awarded several music scholarships and awards for my performance. The highlight was being awarded the departmental award for music as well as being named "Presser Scholar" - a prestigious music award given to music students across America.

I met my husband while in college and we married after graduation in 2002. We moved to Spring Hill in 2003 and we've enjoyed seeing the growth and life that has made this town great! In 2009 we welcomed our beautiful baby boy and in December 2011 we welcomed our beautiful baby girl! We look forward to raising our family in the same musical heritage that was offered to us as children!
